Guam - Several public hearings are scheduled for this week. Lawmakers will hear testimony this Tuesday on Bill 300, allowing for the Port Authority of Guam to enter into a public-private partnership through a performance management contract. Another hearing is scheduled for Thursday on Bill 296, which is an act to require the Guam Election Commission to verify the existence of non-existence of a criminal record of a person seeking public office.

The measure was introduced in the wake of the controversy surrounding Senator Matt Rector, who claimed he forgot to disclose his 1983 burglary conviction he filled out the paperwork to run for public office and when he filled out an application for a concealed firearms permit.
