Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo, Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife of the House Committee on Natural Resources recently wrote to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton regarding the recent authorization by the Department of Homeland Security to parole Chinese visitors. Bordallo requested Secretary Clinton's assistance in addressing the cancellation of commercial flights between the People's Republic of China and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands due to the former's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' requirement to be notified of the new policy by the U.S. State Department.

Bordallo is requesting that Secretary Clinton officially transmit the new parole authority policy to the government of the PRC. Bordallo says every week flights from China are not able to travel to the CNMI creating an estimated $2.6 million in economic activity is lost.
