Guam - The island community said goodbye to a pioneer and icon in the restaurant business. Last respects were held today at the Guam Memorial Park in Barrigada for Shirley Lai, known to many as "Mama Shirley".  She passed away peacefully in her sleep last week.

Shirley founded and operated four Shirley's coffee shops on Guam and Saipan as thousands of island residents enjoy her cooking creations on a daily basis. She was also known for her generosity as she gave to many charitable causes on the island as she believed in giving back to the community.

KUAM wishes our sincere condolences to the Lai family.
