Military Buildup Committee chair Senator Judi Guthertz is expecting plenty of answers when she conducts an oversight hearing tomorrow morning. The Democrat lawmaker is demanding full disclosure not only on federal funding associated with the military buildup, but details about the draft environmental impact statement.
Representatives from the Guam Coastal Management Program, the Guam Environmental Protection Agency, the Division of Aquatics and Wildlife Resources, the State Historic Preservation Office, and Public Works have been called to attend the oversight hearing. These entities have already had an opportunity to review the draft EIS, and the lawmaker wants copies of whatever they have as the actual 8,000+ page document won't be released to the public until late next month.
The oversight hearing begins at 9 Thursday morning.
