King's takes AG to court

Posted: Updated:

King's Restaurant has filed a writ of mandate in the Superior Court alleging the Attorney General's Office has improperly and illegally hijacked the procurement of the food services contract.  According to King's Attorney Rawlen Mantanona, the writ of mandate filed on Wednesday, asks the court to force the Attorney General to sign the food services contract that the Department of Education initially awarded to King's Restaurant for the next fiscal year.  As we reported that contract was protested by Sodexo.

The company believed DOE violated procurement procedures which resulted in a flawed procurement process favoring one bidder over another.  Mantanona contends the AG's Office decision to put the contract out for re-bid is improper and beyond their authority.  He adds by the court forcing the AG to sign the contract, it allows the Sodexo protest to move forward.
