Respicio & Guthertz meet with POEA

Posted: Updated:

Senators Judi Guthertz and Rory Respicio are in the Philippines having discussions with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration that is preparing to deploy thousands of workers to assist with the construction associated with the military buildup.  The lawmakers are quoted in Filipino media reports as saying that an amendment proposed by Hawaii Congressman Neil Abercrombie will not pass and that residents here will not be able to fill all of the jobs that will be available.  The Philippines Overseas Employment Administration is hoping to capitalize on this and is reportedly finalizing the protocols that will be used in the deployment of overseas foreign workers to the territory.
