"King Kong"
by Jamil Justice

Let me start by saying that director Peter Jackson, recognizably a true master of the silver screen has with his tribute to Dino De Laurentis's original film King Kong reassures us with this experience that my earlier statement is in fact a fact.

OK, enough homage to the director for now and time to get to the point, GO AND SEE THIS FILM! If you ever wondered what ever happen to that feeling you use to get when you saw a film that would cause you to partially describe the flick for at least thirty five percent of the following day with anyone who was interested to hear a little bit of how it was. Or where did that spontaneous "WOW" go that would show up after a film ending which was immediately followed by the phrase "I've got to see that again", Peter Jackson's King Kong is the JackPot and your either gonna kick yourself or get kicked once your family gets wind that you had no plans to take them to see this adventure ride of a film.

In every aspect King Kong holds true to the original conception that keeps the name "King Kong" familiar to so many generations after so many years. Exacting the true emotion of the period Peter Jackson begins by unfolding the motivation for film director Carl Denham's(played by the hilarious talent Jack Black) maniacal methods at having his film made. Set during the Great Depression all the characters in one way or another are desperate to get ahead and ahold of some money. Drawn together under the guise of Denham's willingness to do whatever he will to produce his film, his production crew, writer Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody), struggling actress and last minute replacement Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) and the crew of the ship Venture find themselves partially stranded on Skull Island.

The film pretty much progresses in the direction of the original except this version doesn't give you a moment turn away from the screen for a second. By far the film of the year in my opinion and I wont say another word since your going to want to see it all for yourself. REMARKABLE AND A TRUE THRILL. A 5 out of 5.
