"Glory Road"
by Sonya Artero

If you liked the movie, remember the titans, than you must see Glory Road. This Walt Disney movie tells the inspiring true story of the Texas Western basketball team, with the first African-American starting lineup of players.

The moral of the story is that the road to glory is not easy, and there are many obstacles. Obstacles of which the movie capsizes on in an effort for you to understand what the team was made to endure during the 1960's as a result of racial discrimination. The best parts of the movie is obviously seeing this underdog team win each of their games that in the end, led to the crescendo victory of their taking the NCAA tournament title in 1966, which changed basketball forever.

Josh Lucas stars as Hall of Famer Don Haskins, the college basketball coach whose dream of coaching Division I basketball coupled with his passion to win, ultimately changed history when he proved the color of your skin has nothing to do with playing kick-butt basketball. The acting by Coach Haskins was superb, but you'll love getting to know each of the players whose varying personalities made the movie that much more enjoyable.

One such personality that stands out is Derek Luke, who in the movie plays Bobby Joe Hill. You'll remember him from his leading role in the 2002 film Antwone Fisher. Both exciting and exhilarating, Glory Road is a movie for everyone. And even if you are not a fan of basketball, this inspirational film will get you get you out of your seat and cheering for Texas Western, which in my book earns it four out of five stars.
