"Aeon Flux"
by Jamil Justice

Aeon Flux is set in the future 400 years after a disease has wiped out most of civilization as we know it, and what is left of humanity has walled itself up into an inescapable technologically advanced city-state named Bregna.

Bregna is ruled over by a council of scientists, headed by the brilliant Trevor Goodchild (played by Marton Csokas) the scientist responsible for curing industrial disease and saving the human race. Except there is something wrong with this perfect system of control that is withering away at the root of this civilization causing it to unravel at its seams. These therapeutic social frameworks spur forward an underground resistance titled the "Monican" rebellion bent on removing Trevor Goodchild from power.

Aeon Flux (played by Charlize Theron), the Monicans top operative has been selected to but an end to the good doctor's life. Finding that there is more to this assassination than meets the eye as Aeon is thrust into a world where truth lies as much in the memories of the past as it does in its lies of the present. Mirroring present concerns on human ethics, DNA cloning, and the fear of worldwide spread diseases, Aeon Flux is just as much a shoot 'em up sci-fi thriller full of constant action, beautiful cinematography with clean visual effects, as it is a commentary on the state of our fears of today as well as our future.

Aeon Flux, regardless of its memorable mid ninety's animated series showcased on MTVs Liquid television series this film is only based on Peter Chung's original vision and has surprisingly been taken into a completely adult direction. Not to mention most will have two see the film twice to digest it all.
