"16 Blocks"
by Sonya Artero

16 Blocks stars Bruce Willis, who plays Jack Mosely in a role not unlike his usual Die Hard roles. Here he plays an alcoholic, used up New York cop with a predominant limp. As for the story line, what is supposed to be a simple run of a convict to the local courthouse, which is only sixteen blocks away, turns into a literal day from hell for both cop and convict.

What's really clever about 16 Blocks is the director's pairing of Willis with popular rap artist Mos Def who plays the prisoner that Willis is escorting. Mos Def's character Eddie Bunker makes him out to be an annoying chatterbox. But the movie picks up shortly after the opening when Willis suddenly finds himself in a shootout over his prisoner and wonders who in the heck would want this quirky guy dead.

And Why? The moment you find out why is when the movie gets real good!

I won't give away why authorities want the prisoner dead but suffice it to say, it's a twist of a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Willis is excellent at transforming himself into the loser cop role and Mos Def continues his impressive string of performances. Mos Def is so good at playing the annoying yet lovable convict that often times he steals the scenes.

16 Blocks is a truly enjoyable good cop vs. bad cop flick.
