The US Department of Education will continue to hold federal funds hostage until they receive a legal opinion from the Attorney General's office regarding who governs the Guam Public School System. Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania-Shafer tells KUAM that she received a phone call from USDOE's Phil Maestri over the weekend asking for clarification.

The AG is expected to participate in a conference call with USDOE on Tuesday morning. Bretania-Shafer is hoping to receive the funds before October 1, which is the start of the new fiscal year.
