The Guam Police Department is investigating a traffic-related fatality that occurred just before midnight on Sunday night in Hagatna. Guam Police spokesperson Officer Allan Guzman says a patrol officer was traveling westbound on O'Brien Drive and Tenbat Street when he saw the male driver of a pickup truck traveling eastbound crashed his vehicle into a concrete wall. Medics arrived on the scene and treated the man, whose identity has not been released, who was pronounced dead at Naval Hospital. GPD's Highway Patrol Division was activated to investigate.

Motorists should be advised that O'Brien Drive will be closed for an undetermined amount of time this morning as crash scene investigators determine how the incident happened. An autopsy is likely to be conducted later today.

This incident marks the fifth traffic-related fatality of the year 2008.
