There are new developments in the Attorney General's efforts to crackdown on amusement devices that for years have been cashing in and operating as illegal gambling machines. Superior Court Pro-tem Judge Robert Klitzkie issued his decision ordering the Department of Revenue and Taxation to revoke the licenses of gambling devices on the island. Such machines have been licensed by the agency for years under the guise of operating as amusement devices.

As we reported the judge granted the Attorney General's petition against Rev and Tax and further found that despite claims made by the agency's attorney, AG Alicia Limtiaco did have standing to bring the suit.

Klitzkie also found that DRT did not have the authority to issue licenses for gambling devices and he has a duty to revoke them. With the signing of the judgment today, this means Rev and Tax can now file an appeal of the decision if the director and deputy choose to do so.

Rev and Tax Director Art Ilagan and Deputy Director John Camacho's Attorney Rawlen Mantanona indicated to KUAM in previous interviews that his clients intend to file an appeal. Ilagan told KUAM this afternoon that his agency would follow the judge's order and will begin issuing notices of revocation to the owners of gaming devices sometime later this week.
