The island said goodbye today to a son of Guam, a soldier, and a hero. Hundreds paid their last respects during funeral services for Guam Army National Guard Sergeant Brian Leon Guerrero who was laid to rest. Leon Guerrero along with Sergeant Samson Mora were killed while serving in Afghanistan.

A third soldier, Specialist Kalani Echang, was seriously injured and is recovering at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. Meanwhile, funeral services for Sergeant Mora will be held Saturday at the Hagatna Cathedral Basilica.

All three soldiers are members of the 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry that deployed to Afghanistan in January in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.#
