With the recent passage of Bill 279, the fate of the current associate superintendents is up in the air. Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools Ken Chargulaf said he's unsure if he wants to apply for the new deputy superintendent positions that were established by Bill 279 that is now law. He did hint that he would like to further discuss his options with Superintendent Nerissa Bretania Shafer."I can always go back to school administration or district office level. I'm always very excited and eager to venture into new assignments. Again I really would like to conduct or hold a bilateral discussion with the Superintendent and the Legal Counsel," Chargulaf stated. If he does stay at GPSS, Chargulaf maintains he's entitled to receive his current salary because he is a classified employee.
