With recent public auditor reports on the financial mismanagement at the Guam Public School system which includes a thrashing on how the system handles procurement issues, the Committee on Governmental Operations and reorganization is holding an oversight hearing next Tuesday on procurement matters within GPSS to include warehouse and property offices. The oversight gets underway at 5pm.

According to an audit released Monday by the Public Auditor's Office, it noted emergency procurement was used excessively and unnecessarily for non-emergencies. The report also found that GPSS issued multiple purchase orders to the same vendor within a matter of days to avoid being subjected to procurement restrictions.
