Public Safety Committee chairman Senator Ray Tenorio (R) introduced two bills that recognize the importance of maintaining a drug-free workplace. Bill 300 seeks to provide legal tools and employee protection for those private sector employers who choose to implement a drug-free workplace. Bill 301 meanwhile would require all Government of Guam vendors with contracts in excess of $25,000 a year to maintain a drug-free workplace. According to Tenorio, "Both measures provide a disincentive for both public and private sector employees to use illicit drugs and will allow companies and our government to promote what a drug-free environment can produce on the job such as greater productivity, quality of work and higher standards of safety for both employees and customers."
