After being shutdown several weeks ago for electrical and sewage problems, conditional approval was given today that allows the Benavente Middle School gymnasium to be open during the day. Noting significant improvement since their last visit, the Guam Public School System Health and Safety Task force re-inspected the facility this morning and still found room for improvement.GPSS will still need to secure the gym's electrical control panel, fix exit signs and repair some of the gym's doors. Guam Fire Department Captain Joey Muna says once these particular issues are addressed the gym can be used only during the day. "We're going to allow the gym to be opened during the day time and should not be used during the night time and we need to correct the doors the and also the exit signs," he said.
