Senator Ben Pangelinan is hoping the Department of Revenue & Taxation will reconsider its decision to garnish Economic Stimulus Tax rebates of eligible Guam taxpayers. In a letter to agency director Art Ilagan, the lawmaker contends the policy is unfair and unreasonable. Currently Rev & Tax is withholding the rebates for those individuals who owe child support, taxes, and other debts to the government. Senator Pangelinan said, "The Department's decision to take away a person's rebate...is not justified. I once again request that the Department reconsider its policy decision to garnish checks made possible through the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008." The lawmaker urged the department to amend its plan to the Department of Treasury immediately.Read the letter from Senator Pangelinan to Art Ilagan
