The Guam Public School System is scrambling around to find ways to pay its contractors providing services to the schools. Advance Management has had to lay off 31 employees because GPSS failed to pay them for cleaning the four fully-outsourced schools as of last Friday. According to interim chief financial officer Wilfred Aflague, GPSS has yet to receive feedback from the Guam Legislature on their recent submittal of the supplemental budget. Aflague says they're looking to see if money can be taken out of personnel costs to pay vendors. As for trash collection services, Aflague says that contract is good until the end of this month.
