Guam's Business Community will gather tomorrow to hear from the President of a consulting firm based out of California on the economic impacts and various development stages of a new private hospital for Guam. Dr. Lionel Chadwick is the President of the consulting firm Chadwick and Associates from Monterey, California. He will be speaking before the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Healthcare and Hospital Development Foundation during a meeting scheduled for Wednesday morning. Tomorrow's meeting is also hosted by the Guam Contractors Association and the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association.

Dr. Chadwick has extensive experience in hospital and medical group management, physician-hospital joint ventures, and hospital financial management, serving over 16 years as a senior healthcare executive. "The Guam Healthcare and Hospital Development Foundation is pleased with the support of the Chamber relative to our community's need for a new privately owned and managed hospital," said Peter Sgro, chairman of the Foundation. "The healthcare issues are obvious when you consider under current population numbers, Guam needs at least 317 additional hospital beds to meet demand," added Sgro. "However, this is just as equally an economic issue and with our growing economy, it is important to recognize that hospitals are a critical component to sustain economic growth," concluded Sgro.

"The Guam Chamber of Commerce supports a private hospital on Guam," stated Laura-Lynn Dacanay, Chairwoman of the Board for the Guam Chamber of Commerce. "We welcome experts in this field to share their knowledge, offer guidance, and provide direction to achieve this goal."

Dacanay added, "The Chamber is working together with other organizations like GCA and GHRA to reach a broader audience within the business community."
