In an effort to get the Consolidated Commission on Utilities to rethink its decision to disconnect village streetlights, a meeting was held this afternoon at Adelup with village mayors, the governor and the Guam Power Authority. Mayors like Yigo's Bob Lizama questioned why GPA couldn't have waited to disconnect until July. The mayor said, "I had to be here because I was one who requested that we could come to the table and discuss this and just request that perhaps consider July. We'll comeback to July and perhaps we'll do the same thing, but between now and then I'm hoping that the good governor here will be able to find the resources to pay what is due."Governor Felix Camacho continued to defend he's done all he can to help pay down the streetlights debt, but his solutions were shot down by the Guam Legislature. He also continued to push his solution to raise the island's Vehicle Registration Fee as a means to address the monies owed.
