After an Easter Break that was unexpectedly extended for three grueling days that saw intense media scrutiny, repeated task force inspections, and open criticism from the community that extended way beyond the limits of the villages in the island's lower half, classes at Southern High School will resume as normal on Thursday. Following an early-evening re-inspection of the Santa Rita campus by Guam attorney general Alicia Limtiaco, the fourth such assessment in 13 days since the school was shut down citing sanitary and health concerns, it was determined that the issues noted had been satisfactorily resolved. As such, the sanitary permit for Southern High has been reinstated as of 10pm Wednesday, according to Jay Forsyth with the AG's Office. Officials from the Guam Public School System have not been available for comment.Guam Education Policy Board chairman Joe San Agustin confirmed that students will be attending their normal class schedule tomorrow. This will be the first regular bell schedule in nearly two weeks, after a surprise inspection ruled that the school had a laundry list of health and safety concerns, forcing a shut down in the middle of the school day on March 14.
