Senator Frank Blas, Jr. (R), who chairs the Legislative Committee on Health, has scheduled a public hearing on Bill 245. The measure was introduced earlier this week by Senator Rory Respicio (D), seeking to amend the existing Physician's Practice Act by adding language excluding any licensure requirements for licensed physician's residing outside Guam who provide consultations to local physicians through telemedicine.

Last week the Guam Healthcare and Hospital Foundation and Guam Radiology Consultants donated telemedicine equipment to the Guam Memorial Hospital for its use. It will be interesting to see whether the Guam Board of Medical Examiners will show up to provide testimony - earlier this week during a board meeting chairman Dr. Ricardo Eusebio expressed concerns that some sort of licensure should be required and obtained.

The hearing is scheduled for next Friday at 9 in the morning.
