While work is well underway by the Guam Department of Agriculture, the Cocos Island Resort and other agencies to move the Guam Rail out to Cocos Island, some feathers are being ruffled over the project. Merizo mayor Sherri Chargulaf says finding a safe haven for the koko is an excellent idea, but many residents in her village are quite concerned about the rodenticides planned to be used to eliminate mice and rats.

"I think that's the greatest concern, the poison so they say, that may be harmful to not only the rodents, but also the other species out there as well," she shared.

As reported the rodenticide called diphacinone is expected to be applied to Cocos Island later this month.
