The U.S. Coast Guard was called to respond to a report of a missing fisherman in the waters off Pago Bay. According to the Lieutenant Lee Putnam, seas were breaking at about six and a half feet, noting that Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 was dispatched and conducted an aerial search of the area. Rescue personnel and medics from the Guam Fire Department also rushed to the scene.

GFD spokesperson Angel Llagas told KUAM News that a report came into the island's 911 emergency service at around 5:20 Tuesday afternoon, as a man reported that he was fishing with his friend, and the latter had gone missing. While he made it to shore, the man noticed his friend was standing on the reef and then disappeared into the water.

For the time being the National Weather Service has issued a high-surf advisory as well as a small craft advisory to remain in effect until Wednesday.
