The Port Authority of Guam's board of directors discussed the need to prepare itself for the military buildup during its meeting this afternoon. Chairman Monte Mesa told the board that he was pleased with the progress they have made and the direction they are headed, saying that he's confident that the port will be the tip of the spear rather than the chokepoint of Guam's economic boom.
PAG general manager Ken Tagawa told board members that today the agency received a draft master plan from consulting firm P.B. International it's for review. "I know that the board and management want to go through this document, which is about 230 pages, so we did tell that it may take us ten days or so to digest it," he reiterated. Tagawa says that once they've completed their review the next step is to submit recommendations to the consultant.
The firm will incorporated these suggestions into another version of the master plan in February, at which time the Port will hold a hearing to accept public input to be taken into consideration by P.B. International before it completes its final master plan.
