Minority Leader Judi Won Pat (D) is not only requesting the Republicans relinquish their leadership roles as a result of B.J. Cruz winning Super Saturday's senatorial special election - she's also requesting that the senator elect be sworn-in this Thursday. The Guam Election Commission will be meeting tomorrow to certify the results and according to a letter addressed to acting speaker Eddie Calvo (R) , Senator Won Pat writes that Cruz would like to begin his duties as senator as expeditiously as possible.

With Cruz winning Saturday's election, the Democrats now hold a 8-7 majority in the 29th, but due to a technicality in the Legislature's standing rules, the GOP still holds leadership positions. In order for the Democrats to change the standing rules they would need to sway two Republicans to vote in favor to change them.
