Nearly 200 register for 'Detox'
Several island residents are turning their attention to healthy living this weekend, as the popular dietary cleansing program "The 21-Day Detox" is back by popular demand. Last year about 170 residents participated in the program, which is held over three successive Sundays, making for the largest single group of participants ever to make the conscious choice to improve the quality of their lives by removing unwanted irritants and harmful pollutants from their systems.
Detox facilitator Dr. Richard DeAndrea is back to educate those enrollees, and says they can expect a lot from participating. "The first week of the detox, basically a person is gong to learn to be on a vegetarian diet - no animal products. The second week, they're going to eat food that is not cooked, so it's going to be raw or live food, just the way Mother Nature created it. And the third week they're going to learn to eat some raw food and also a little bit of blended liquid fast - kind of pureed food. So, real simple." DeAndrea says at the conclusion of the 21 days, you can decide to eat whatever you want or stick to the diet if you feel it works for you.
This program has also been featured in major national media, and several celebrities follow the program in the mainland. The seminar is being held at the Outrigger Guam Resort on Tumon Bay. There are about 200 people signed up this time around, and there's still time if you're interested. Said DeAndrea, "If you wanted to come down, there's plenty of room. We're here at the Outrigger, just show up Sunday at 2pm and we will get you into the class. We'll be in the San Rafael Room (inquire at the front desk) at 2pm.
"You might find out tomorrow about something's happening on this island that may threaten your health in the near future so if you come you might find a way to protect to keep yourself safe and your whole family."
