KUAM.COM named best regional news web site for second straight year
It's getting hard to come into work these days, seeing as how I'm having trouble fitting my head through the door. For the second year in a row KUAM.COM has been honored by the Radio-Television News Directors Association as the winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award as outstanding regional news web site, recognizing our contributions to online journalism and Guam's position in the news media world.
Being appreciated by colleagues who really know the business and keep a keen eye out for the little things that make us an effective and powerful force in local news is a huge honor for us. Entries from stations nationwide were considered, with KUAM competing against stations in Hawaii, California, and Nevada. That it's happened for the second time is special - being told by peers that you're the best at what you do never gets old.
We've been a fan favorite since we launched in March 2000, so it means a lot that we've met both critical acclaim AND audience approval. And we don't take any of it for granted. As the leading web site on Guam, we're also honored to represent the island in the global market and spearhead the credibility of local web development.
What gives us distinction is our integration of online multimedia and multiplatform access with our on-air programming. We really strive to make the convergence of all information we distribute seamless - we've worked hard to make it easy to access the news you crave through a constantly-expanding array of platforms and formats (WWW, WAP, SMS, podcasts, streaming, RSS, etc.).
What's best is that we're not resting on our laurels, and that we continue to push forward with new products using the latest technologies.
Here's to the future!
