Having cleaned up illegal dumpsites, Talofofo mayor will appeal fines
Talofofo mayor Pedro Paulino has cleaned up the illegal dump behind his office and the abandoned vehicles parked along Buchinaggo Street. He next plans to appeal the $40,000 in fines imposed by the two Guam Environmental Protection Agency notices of violation he received in reference to those sites on December 30.
The mayor would like to reduce that fine to zero and is optimistic having met with pleased Guam EPA officials last Thursday. According to the mayor the agency applauded his hard work in cleaning up both dumpsites within seven days. They also granted him an extension to file his petition for appeal, giving the mayor an extra business day after the original January 13 deadline.
