Officials with the Department of Public Health and the Guam Memorial Hospital gave a thumbs-up to Bill 122. The legislation, which was submitted by Governor Felix Camacho, calls for salaries of pharmacists employed with the Government of Guam, specifically at GMH and at Public Health, to be increased so that they are inline with the national average.

According to acting Public Health director Art San Agustin, the legislation would ensure two full time pharmacists currently at his agency will stay on board and another could be recruited. "They have indicated that should Bill 122 be favorably passed and signed into law by the Governor, they would stay with Public Health," explained San Agustin. "However if we don't do anything with regard to their salary, we are possibly going to lose them."

Acting hospital administrator Peter John Camacho also testified in support of the legislation, saying GMH will work hard to produce the revenue to support the raises. He stated, "We would just have to work in increasing our collections and definitely taking a look at how we can go after the monies that are owed to the Hospital from all payers."
