The United States Coast Guard Guam in the territory has merged its three divisions into one single unit. In a news release, the Coast Guard Marianas Section, Coast Guard Cutter Galveston Island, and Coast Guard Marine Safety Office will now work together in providing and improving service to Guam.

The change is part of a nation wide effort by the U.S. Coast Guard in establishing sector commands by integrating groups, marine safety offices, vessel traffic services, and in some cases, air stations. And to more effectively manage the sweeping changes to the operational environment resulting from the attacks of September 11.
