Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Nicole M. Montague has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

She is the daughter of James Montague of Dimas St., Mangilao, Guam, and Rose Rios of Barrigada, Guam.

Montague graduated in 1997 from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, Hagatna, and received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from the University of Guam, Mangilao.


Air Force Airman Joel E. Leonor has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Lita Leonor of Chalan Guagua St. Machanao, Dededo, Guam, and nephew of Domingo Esmeralda of S. 93rd St., Tacoma, Wash.

Leonor graduated in the year 2000 from John F. Kennedy High School, Tamuning, Guam.


Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Willard J. Lacy is currently deployed to Iraq as a member of the Multi-National Security Transition Command.

Lacy, a resource management superintendent with 19 years of military service, is normally assigned to the 14th Comptroller Squadron, Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.

He is the son of Willard and Betty Lacy of Tanbark St. S.E., Olympia, Wash.

His wife, Monica, is the daughter of Rosita Ordona Hernandez of Yigo, Guam.


Army Reserve Pvt. John J. Cruz has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

The student was trained to perform maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair wheeled vehicles and related mechanical components, including suspension systems, internal combustion engines and power trains, spark- and compression-ignition engines, wheel-hub assemblies, hydraulic brake and steering systems, and operate a wheeled vehicle crane, hoist, and winch assemblies.

Cruz is the son of Antoinette S. Cruz of Santa Ana St., Asan, Guam.

He is a 1994 graduate of Oceanview High School, Agat, Guam.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Elisa S. Guzman has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Army Pvt. Basi N. Siba has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to engage in military operations involving U.S. and coalition forces. Operation objectives include liberating the Iraqi people, preserving Iraq as a unified state, keeping its territorial integrity intact, and helping the Iraqi people begin the process of economic and political reconstruction. Active duty, reserve, and national guard members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces are participating in the operation.

The soldier is regularly assigned to one of the various camps and units (infantry, aviation, armor, artillery, engineer, command support, etc.) of the 2nd Infantry Division, Eighth U.S. Army based in South Korea. Soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Division deployed to Iraq either to augment soldiers serving in country or to replace soldiers whom had completed their tour of duty.

Siba, a combat engineer, has less than a year of military service.

He is the son of Norston T. and Alma N. Siba of Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia.

Ancheta is a 1997 graduate of Hilo Community School, Hawaii.


Meluus K. Ulechong has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

The training provides the best possible professional training and evaluation for all cadets in the aspects of military life, administration and logistical support. Although continued military training and leadership development is included in the curriculum, the primary focus of the course is to develop and evaluate each cadet's officer potential as a leader. The cadet command assesses each cadet's performance and progress in officer traits, qualities and professionalism while attending the course.

He is the son of Rita Kazuma of Saipan, Mariana Islands.

Ulechong is a 1993 graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Saipan.

Army Pvt. Jocelyn L. Jesus has graduated from the automated logistical specialist advanced individual training (AIT) course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, materiel control, accounting and support reports, automated and manual accounting records; perform stock record/warehouse functions pertaining to receipt, storage, distribution and issue and maintain equipment records and parts; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies, and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications.

Jesus is the daughter of Christina B. Jesus and Micheal M. Naputi of John Taitano St., Dededo, Guam.

She is a 2003 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Agana, Guam.

Anthony P. Benavente has been promoted to the rank of senior airman in the U.S. Air Force.

Benavente, a distribution operator with two years of military service, is assigned to the 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.

He is the son of Pedro and Josefina Benavente of Aurora St., Dededo, Guam.

The airman is a 2002 graduate of St. Paul High School, Harmon, Guam.


Army National Guard Pfc. Chad A. Corpuz has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Corpuz is the son of Pamela Fernandez of Talisay Drive, Santa Rita, Guam.

He is a 2003 graduate of Southern High School, Santa Rita.

During the eight weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Lujan is the son of Jocelyn L. Mendiola of Edward Cruz St., Inarajan, Guam.

In 2003, the soldier graduated from Southern High School, Santa Rita, Guam.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Kris A. Tiongson has arrived for duty at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.

Tiongson is a munitions systems apprentice assigned to the 5th Munitions Squadron.

He is the son of Maria R. Armena of Eucharista St., Yona, Guam.

Army National Guard Pvt. Raymond Ignacio C. Mesngon has graduated from the water treatment specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The course is designed to train students to perform installation and operation of water purification equipment, and water storage and distribution operations and activities. Specialists duties include assisting in water reconnaissance, site preparation, and the setup of a water treatment activity; receive, issue and store potable water, perform water quality analysis testing and verification; analyze food and water samples to ensure quality, and conduct health and safety investigations of living quarters and base facilities; provide training on industrial hygiene, environmental health and occupational health issues, and monitoring noise and radiation levels at job sites.

Mesngon is the son of Ignacio C. and Margareta Q. Mesngon of Mesngon St., Toto, Guam.

He is a 2003 graduate of George Washington High School, Mangilao, Guam.


Army Pvt. Patrick A. Torres has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Torres is a 1994 graduate of Inarajan High School, Guam.


John I. Kinsella has entered basic cadet training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. The six-week, two-phased orientation program trains men and women to meet the rigorous mental and physical challenges of a cadet.

Phase one involves personal in-processing, orientation, and training in the fundamentals of being a cadet. Cadet trainees are prepared to adjust from civilian to military life, and learn proper wear of the uniform, drill and ceremony, marching, and living quarters standards.

During phase two, cadets train outdoors living in tents while learning to function in field conditions. Team work, cohesion and learning to deal with physically and mentally demanding situations are practiced. Trainees complete the obstacle, confidence, assault, and leadership reaction courses, and participate in a rescue mission termed Operation Warrior.

He is the son of Mary Kinsella of Hagatna, Guam, and grandson of Lucille Torres of W. Casa Del Norte, N. Las Vegas, Nev.

Kinsella is a 2003 graduate of St. Pahl Christian School, Harmon, Guam.

Army Sgt. Christopher L. Raugalyang has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army after seven years of military service.

The sergeant is a gunner currently deployed to Bagram Air Field, Bagram, Afghanistan.

He is the son of Mariana Leraglig and Andrew Rapoulug of Yap, Federated States of Micronesia.

Raugalyang is a 1996 graduate of Outer Island High School, Yap.


Army Pvt. Corneille L. Church has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
