Staffers at the Guam Election Commission have completed their recount of the ballots for the senatorial race between Democrats Philippe Cruz and Luis Duenas. While the original tabulations showed a difference of only 9 votes, GEC executive director John Blas says the recount showed that Cruz actually led by a total of 15.
The GEC's Board of Directors is scheduled to meet Wednesday, during which time they will certify the results from this race and the primary for Merizo mayor. A drawing for ballot placement will also be conducted during the meeting for the senatorial races.
Also of note is that the board must approve the impartial analysis of the Responsible Gaming Act (Prop "A") by this Friday. Blas says it must be approved so that he and his staff can move forward with the process of mailing out the information pamphlets.
