P.C. Lujan Elementary School in Barrigada received a helping hand in the way of maintenance today. Sailors assigned to Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Naval Hospital, Mobil Security Squadron 7 and Naval Airborne Weapons Maintenance Unit 1 were busy painting walkways, water blasting and performing general cleaning duties. This all comes as good timing considering an accreditation team will be visiting the school early next week.
"I think community service is important to the Navy and the community. It just helps out everyone. Why not just help out when you can," said Nola Sparks, with the Naval Hospital.
Workers from the Barrigada Mayor's Office also helped out in today's cleanup effort. The sailors' assistance is part of the Navy's ongoing islandwide Sister School and Sister Village Community Relations Program.
