A 20-year-old Ordot man is behind bars today after shooting a 19-year-old Chalan Pago man in the leg. Joshua Brandon Perez was arrested on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession and use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony, and possession of firearm without identification, four counts of terrorizing, unlawful discharge and guilt established by complicity.
After being shot, the teen was transported, treated and released from the Guam Memorial Hospital at 10pm Thursday, according to GMH nursing supervisor Marie Quintanilla.
Guam Police Department spokesperson Officer Alan Guzman says around 7pm last night, Hagatna Precinct Officers respond to Chelenko Street in Chalan Pago and discovered that a male had been shot on the leg and was transported to the hospital. After fleeing the scene in a Toyota pickup, officers located the suspects and the vehicle on Dero Road in Ordot. A minor, 17, was turned over to the GPD Juvenile Investigation Section and Joshua Brandon Blas Perez, 20, were taken into custody by police and questioned at Hagatna Precinct.
Joseph Bernard Perez, the minor's father and a firefighter with the Guam Fire Department, was called in to be with his son during the questioning of the incident. The father upon viewing his son's written statement is suspected to have torn up the statement form in front of the interviewing officer and began to consume the form by eating it. The minor's father was also arrested in this case for destruction of evidence, hindering and obstructing government operations and resisting arrest. The elder Perez was booked and confined.
The case remains open.
