There was a bit of a shake-up in the senatorial race for the Decision 2008 General Election, with all 58 voting districts having been accounted for at Election Central at the University of Guam in Mangilao. Several senatorial hopefuls traded positions in the lower ranks, giving, at least in theory, the 30th Guam Legislature a 10-5 Democrat majority.
There may also be a bit of controversy brewing, as the Guam Election Commission has indicated that a recount may be requested, given the tightness of the 15th and 16th positions, held by Democrats Matt Rector and Dr. David Shimizu, respectively.
The race for Prop A surreptitiously ended with John Baldwin's "concession" interview with KUAM, in which the Guam Greyhound Race Park owner admitted the latest effort to legalize casino gaming at his company failed.
As far as the presidential straw poll, Guam residents lent their endorsement to Barack Obama, who took nearly two-thirds of the unofficial votes cast.
The final tallies are pending verification by the GEC.
