Dems lay claim to supermajority, 4 incumbents fail to get reelected

Published Nov 5, 2008
GOP legislative mainstays Mark Forbes and Jesse Lujan didn't get enough votes to crack the top 15

There's a big shake-up in store for the forthcoming 30th Guam Legislature as the Guam Election Commission completed their tabulation of the results from Super Tuesday at around 3:30 Wednesday morning. The unofficial results give the Democrats a 10-5 supermajority in the Legislative Branch, with four incumbent senators failing to make it into the top 15.

Those senators are Dr. David Shimizu, Jesse Anderson Lujan, Mark Forbes and Frank Ishizaki.  They'll be replaced by Telo Taitague, Frank Aguon, Jr, Tom Ada and Matt Rector.  Only 146 votes separated Rector and Shimizu, who finished at ranks 15 and 16, respectively.
