A two-year-old boy remains in critical condition at the Guam Memorial Hospital after he and 8 others were injured during a car crash on Sunday morning. The two-car collision, which occurred near Mount Santa Rosa in Yigo, is currently being investigated by GPD's Highway Patrol Division.
The driver of a Hyundai Elantra lost control on back road and encroached into the oncoming lane colliding with the driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander. A two-year-old boy sustained a skull fracture and a fractured femur while another toddler also sustained serious injuries.
Highway Patrol Officer Danny Cepeda says the injuries from the crash could have been avoided had the children been put in child restraints. "Whenever you're operating a vehicle, the operator is pretty much solely responsible for the passengers inside the vehicle to make sure they're wearing their seat belt and have proper restraint," he said.
