Guam - The Legislature's Committee on Utilities will hold a public hearing tomorrow on Bill 310. The legislation, introduced by Senator Telo Taitague, would authorize the Department of Public Works to create a feasibility plan for the installation of a commercial methane recovery system at the Layon landfill.
Bill 310 states the study will include the return investment on a government built and operated methane recovery systems, private public partnerships, and the use of methane for electrical power generation. If signed into law, the legislature will then have 180 days to consider the plan.
Also on the agenda for tomorrow's hearing is Bill 320, which involves net metering. The program allows those who produce green energy for their home to be able to sell any excess energy generated back to the Guam Power Authority and receive credit towards their power bill. Tomorrow's hearing gets underway at 9 in the morning at the Guam Legislature.
